WHY DO YOU NEED MEDICAL INSURANCE?

Today, health care costs are high, and getting higher. Who will pay your bills if you have a serious accident or a major illness? You buy medical insurance for the same reason you buy other kinds of insurance, to protect yourself financially. Medical insurance protects you and your family in case you need medical care that can be very expensive. You can’t predict what your medical bills will be, if you become ill or have an accident, your bills could be very high. If you have insurance, many of your costs are covered by a third-party, not by you. A third-party can be an insurance company, in some cases , it can be your employer.

PRIVATE MEDICAL INSURANCE

How can buy an individual (private) policy.

There are many different types of medical insurance. Each has pros and cons. There is no one "best" plan (Voluntary Medical Insurance (VMI) Programe) The VMI plan that's right for a single person may not be best for a family with small children. And a VMI plan that works for one family may not be right for another.

For example, if your family includes just two adults, it may be less expensive for each of you to have individual coverage than for just one of you to have a family plan. If you have children, or if you might have children soon, you need a family plan. Because your situation may change, review your medical insurance regularly to make sure you have the protection you need.

KIDS INSURANCE

You work hard to provide for your children ant want or make sure they grow up strong, smart and healthy. But like many parents whose children do not have medical insurance , you worry about taking care of them. You can apply to us to provide your kids with the appropriate medical VMI plan to make sure that your children are protected each time.

There are a large variety of schemes available – from low –cost schemes, offering limited cover, to those which offer wide-ranging cover and benefits. Most schemes will offer cover for in-patient and out-patient treatment.

Each Insured person might have different VMI program with different coverage. Medical insurance can seem to be complicated, but we work with our clients to tailor the coverage to meet their exact requirements.

Application Form

You are normally asked to fill in the Application Form, giving details of your medical history. If necessary, we may write to your doctor for more information. It is essential that you give all the information you are asked for. If you don’t , you may find that your insurer may refuse to pay any claim in the future, or even cancel your policy. If you are not sure whether or not to mention something, it is best to do so. If you have a medical condition, which is likely to come back, the insurer will issue policy, but the condition (and any related to it) may not be covered, either indefinitely, or for a set period of time.

The completed and signed Application Form is a very important document. It forms the basis of your contract with your insurer.

Your Insurer treats personal information, especially medical details with absolute confidentiality.

INSURANCE PACK

Upon joining our Voluntary Medical Insurance scheme each Insured Person will given pack contains:

  • MEDICAL CARD for each Insured Person including any eligible dependants. The card carries the 24- hour helpline number which offers medical advice around the clock. It also carries assistance information details should this apply to your scheme.
  • CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE which shows the date people are covered from and any special conditions they may have
  • VOLUNTARY MEDICAL INSURANCE RULES contains explanation of your benefits.
  • A LIST OF MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS with whom Thames Insurance Group has made an arrangement for the direct settlement of in-patient fees.
